About Carrick Veterinary Group

Carrick Veterinary Group started out life in 1986 trading as E McCarrison, alongside his wife he was the only Vet in the practice, working every day as well as providing 24 hour emergency care.

In 1993, Eric & Carole went on to buy the current premises on Newbold Road along with the branch surgery in Clowne. In 2001 the Matlock surgery was opened, followed by the purchase of our first Veterinary Ambulance.

Over the years the practice has continued to grow, with a team of Veterinary Surgeons & Registered Veterinary Nurses caring for your pets. We are now a Nurse Training Practice allowing us to train our own nurses & have had many nurses successfully qualify since this begun.

The Practice has won various awards over the years; in the 1990s the practice won the National Pet Week competition. More recently Eric won ‘Vet of the Year’ in 2007 & the practice was in the top three of ‘Vet Practice of the Year’ 2009.

In 2007 Carrick became part of CVS (UK) Ltd, which has given the practice access to expert advice & support including the use of laboratories owned by them. However Carrick continues to be the friendly local practice you are used to.

Eric & Carole retired from the practice in 2011. The practice is now run by Brian Sargeant, Clinical Director who has a wealth of experience as a Vet. Many members of the team have been with the practice for many years, so there are still plenty of familiar faces.
